United States Army Birthday

On 14 June 1775, The Second Continental Congress formed the Continental Army as a means for the 13 unified American colonies to fight the forces of Britain. George Washington was unanimously elected Commander-In-Chief of the fledgling Army, and he would lead the colonies to victory and independence. Today, the Army is made up of more than 700,000 Soldiers, including active duty and Army Reserve personnel. The Army is one of the largest and most important government organizations in the United States. The U.S. Army is made up of the most dedicated, most respected Soldiers in the world. These Soldiers protect America’s freedoms while serving at home and abroad, and they are always prepared to defend the nation in times of need.

United States Coast Guard Birthday

The Coast Guard is one of the oldest organizations of the federal government. Established in 1790, the Coast Guard served as the nation’s only armed force on the sea until Congress launched the Navy Department eight years later.  Since then, the Coast Guard has protected the United States throughout its long history and served proudly in every one of the nation’s conflicts.  The Coast Guard exists to defend and preserve the United States. They protect the personal safety and security of our people; the marine transportation system and infrastructure; our natural and economic resources; and the territorial integrity of our nation–from both internal and external threats, natural and man-made. The Coast Guard protects these interests in U.S. ports, inland waterways, along the coasts, and on international waters.

United States Air Force Birthday

Initially part of the United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on 18 September 1947 under the National Security Act of 1947. It is the most recent branch of the U.S. military to be formed, and is the largest and one of the world’s most technologically advanced air forces. Today’s Air Force has set forth a vision of how its people, technology and infrastructure must adapt to ensure it will become more effective and influential than ever. With these challenges in mind, the Air Force looks eagerly to the future while remembering the lessons and achievements of the past as well as honoring the memory, sacrifices and contributions of those who succeeded, often in the face of skepticism, in building what is now the world’s only truly global air and space force.

United States Navy Birthday

Since its birth on October 13, 1775, the Navy has been involved with more than ten major wars and countless battles in the effort to bring security, democracy, peace and prosperity to the American people. It’s stood as a constant deterrent against international aggression. Fought the good fight when necessary. Acted as a willing source of assistance to those in crisis or need around the globe. And moved humanity forward through everything from action to innovation. In the world today, America’s Navy is a necessary force and uncommon opportunity. America’s Navy is unique in that it conducts missions on all fronts: in the air, on land and at sea. Wherever a military presence is needed, the Navy is there. Whenever a situation requires U.S. involvement, the Navy is often the first to deploy, the first to engage and the first to help. Always on watch, always on call and always standing by.
