Pickens County Unmet Needs Committee to Host Benefit Dinner

The Pickens County Unmet Needs Committee is hosting a benefit dinner to raise funds for continued work in the tornado recovery in the Sapps community. On February 2, 2016, an EF-2 tornado swept through areas of Pickens County, Alabama. While there thankfully were no fatalities or serious injuries, the damage to homes suffered by the community was significant. Many homes were a total loss or were left uninhabitable and the majority of displaced households did not have insurance. A lot of progress has been made in the community, but there is still much to be done.

The benefit dinner will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at 6 PM at the Aliceville City Hall. Tickets are being sold in advance of the event. A ticket to the dinner will cost $20 per person attending, or a table, which seats eight people, can be bought for $150. A sponsorship is available for $500 for those interested in sponsoring the event. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Aliceville City Hall at (205) 373-6611. More information can be found by calling Aliceville City Hall or going online to the Sapps Disaster Recovery Facebook page

All proceeds from the dinner will go toward continuing recovery in the Sapps community and supporting tornado survivors.
