From February 28th to April 24th, 2024, Tuscaloosa County EMA launched the "Be a Preparedness Champion" campaign. The mission was to provide a fun and engaging way for families and children to learn about storm shelters, preparedness tips, and emergency readiness.
As part of the initiative, citizens had the opportunity to win a weather radio while gaining valuable preparedness knowledge. To see preparedness tips and event photos, click the link above.

We're thrilled by the overwhelming response to our latest video featuring Big AL! Together, we kicked off our groundbreaking "Be a Preparedness Champion" Campaign! Local mascots will join us in spreading crucial preparedness tips for the next nine (9) Wednesdays.
Be on the lookout for a special "Question of the Day", valuable insights on community shelters, and expert advice on staying prepared. And here's the cherry on top – we're giving away a FREE NOAA Midland® Weather Alert Radio to our weekly winners!
Rules:
Must live in Tuscaloosa County.
Must show driver license at pick-up.
Must pick-up from Tuscaloosa County EMA.
Only one winner per household.
Winner must be signed up with TuscALERT for pickup (can sign up at Tuscaloosa County EMA).
Winners will be drawn randomly from a pool of participants with correct answers.
Portable Weather Radio, White, Specific Area Message Encoding, NOAA, Powered By (4) AA Batteries, AC Adapter

- The radio model is Midland WR120B.
- Batteries will be included by Tuscaloosa County EMA.
- Tuscaloosa County EMA will program them for you.
- Questions will be posted daily between September 10th – September 16th on our Facebook page.
- Winners are asked to pick up their radio within 48 hours.
