The Alabama Department of Public Health’s (ADPH) Center for Emergency Preparedness has created 8 healthcare coalitions statewide to prepare the state’s healthcare sector in case of an emergency, such as a disease outbreak or a natural disaster. The coalitions focus on areas such as hospital staffing, bed capacity, and alternative care sites while collaborating with various agencies to encourage cooperation and mutual aid agreements. The committees also develop plans and protocols to follow in the event of an emergency to treat patients, save as many lives as possible, and minimize the further spreading of diseases.
West Central District consists of the following counties: Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Greene, Pickens, Lamar, Walker, Sumter, Hale, Chilton, Perry, and Fayette.
